This IPTV Wire news report covers the operators of Nitro TV IPTV being targeted in a lawsuit.
According to reports and official court documents, the operators of Nitro TV have been ordered by a US court to pay more than $100 million in piracy damages to DISH Network, Sling, and NagraStar.
Nitro TV was a notable IPTV service that was used by thousands of cord-cutters from around the world.
This live TV provider provided thousands of live channels, VOD, PPV, and other content.
Nitro TV Operators Sued for Millions in Damages
In August 2021, the operators of Nitro TV were sued by DISH Network in a lawsuit for violation of the Federal Communications Act and other copyright damages.
The reported operators behind Nitro TV included four individuals named Alex, Anna, Martha, and Osvaldo Galindo.
These four operators illegally obtained unlicensed content from DISH satellite broadcasts and Sling’s programming.
Court documents revealed that Nitro TV sold over 100,300 subscriptions that included thousands of unlicensed live channels and VOD content.
Two bank accounts of the pirate IPTV operators received at least $5 million in revenue from these Nitro TV subscriptions.
Then in February 2022 the group of DISH, Sling, and NagraStar demanded over $100 million in damages for copyright and FCA violations.
DISH and NagraStar were eventually awarded $100,363,000 by a District Judge for statutory damages against the defendants.

“It is further ordered that the defendants are permanently enjoined from (1) receiving or assisting others in receiving DISH’s satellite communications or the content of such communications without authorization from DISH, including through the Nitro TV service or any similar internet streaming service; (2) selling or distributing any device or equipment that is intended for receiving or assisting others in receiving DISH’s satellite communications of television programming or the content of such communications, including codes or credits used to access the Nitro TV service or any similar internet streaming service; (3) circumventing a DRM or any other technological protection measure that controls access to Sling’s programming, including through the use of Sling subscription accounts to provide Sling programming for the Nitro TV service or any similar internet streaming service.”
